After more than 3500 copies sold and to meet the growing demand, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine launch a new enhanced version of the Surgeries of the abomasum in cattle, also known as ”Glass cow”.

This course, which is approximatively 5 hours long, can be achieved at you own pace. In each section, the themes will be demonstrated by videos, animated models and learning activities that allow you to test your knowledge. You will review topics such as:

  • The anatomy of the cow’s digestive system
  • The concepts necessary to recognize the displacement, dilation and volvulus of the abomasum
  • The basic principles of surgery

Thereafter, the content related to surgical techniques will be seen, such as:

  • Blind Toggle-Pin Abomasopexy
  • Right paralumbar fossa omentopexy
  • Paramedian, left paralumbar and laparoscopic abomasopexy.
  • Comparison of these approaches

By the end of this course, you will be able to recognize abomasal problems in cattle, make conscious decisions about the appropriate surgical options, and feel more confident to achieve the chosen surgical interventions.



This online course is designed to run on most of operating systems (include Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X).
